Building safety is a matter for the owner of the building. Questions regarding day-to-day operational matters of public corporations, including information relating to any repair and maintenance works, are best answered directly by each public corporation.

We recognise that points have been made around the minimum age of marriage and civil partnership and whether young people need more protection.

This is why we have been meeting with interested stakeholders.

There are a range of views here. Increasing the minimum age can be argued to increase safeguards for young people, but such a change can also be seen as removing their right to marry or to enter a civil partnership. Additionally, given the range of rights that people acquire when they reach 16, we need to consider carefully whether broader implications would arise from a change to the minimum age of marriage.

The number of registered marriages in Scotland involving 16- and 17-year-olds is very low. However, we are also aware that there are some concerns regarding unregistered marriage ceremonies and about children and young people being taken abroad to be married.

The forced marriage offence in England and Wales has recently been extended, so that it is an offence there in all circumstances to do anything intended to cause a child to marry before they turn 18. No form of coercion requires to be used and the offence applies where the marriage is to take place outside England and Wales, and regardless of whether the marriage would have legal effect.

We would need to assess if this approach would be right for Scotland. Introducing a similar measure here might have the adverse impact of driving forced marriages even further underground. Forcing someone into marriage is already a criminal offence in Scotland and applies to any religious or civil ceremony of marriage whether or not legally binding. This offence will extend later this year to include forced civil partnerships.

The Scottish Government will continue to listen to stakeholders and the wider debate, as we actively consider our next steps. This will help ensure that we properly assess the potential impacts of changes and, if we take forward a full public consultation, that this includes robust evidence.

The Scottish Government remains committed to its aim of providing an integrated community hearing service, as highlighted in the 2021 Manifesto. As set out in the 2022-23 Emergency Budget Review, ongoing impacts of the cost crisis - as well as the need to consider outcomes from the National Audiology Review - have necessitated re-phasing of this commitment.

Our Diabetes Improvement Plan, published in 2021, contains a key commitment to further increase access to existing and emerging diabetes technologies.

Our national policy is to increase access to these life changing diabetes therapies to everyone who would benefit, and we expect NHS Boards to provide technology to all clinically suitable children and adults.

Between 2016 and 2022, we invested £29.6 million of additional funding specifically to support the increased provision of diabetes technologies. A further £350,000 is being invested through the new Accelerated National Innovation Adoption pathway workstream to accelerate the distribution of Closed Loop Systems.

The technology is considered the most significant development in diabetes treatment in recent years and can transform lives, particularly for children and young people. This investment will see a dedicated team created to support NHS health boards to rollout the technology faster and more efficiently across Scotland.

We are continuing to work with key partners to identify any future funding requirements for the continuing roll-out of diabetes technologies across Scotland.

Invitations to meet have been issued to representatives of all the other organisations that my response to S6W-16048 indicates we planned to meet.

I am meeting Pauline Latham MP after the summer recess. Ms Latham promoted the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Bill in the Westminster Parliament. That Bill once passed and implemented led to an increase in the minimum age of marriage in England and Wales from 16 to 18.

Given that labelling, including barcodes, is a reserved issue and therefore requirements for barcodes and labels were not part of the regulations covering Scotland’s Deposit Return Scheme, we have not previously engaged with GS1 UK, who are a company dealing with barcodes.

However, I have asked officials to reach out to GS1 UK to offer to meet with them.

Transport Scotland and CMAL will continue to engage with CalMac on maintenance, repair, and vessel resilience activities, considering preventative approaches as part of this. The ongoing engagement is aimed at minimising unplanned outages which affect performance of the fleet and at helping to deliver reliable services to our island communities. Direct comparison with other fleets is not straight forward but it is noted that the unplanned events in the CalMac fleet are, in part, a consequence of challenges of maintaining equipment which, in some cases, is no longer supported by original manufacturers. These activities are supported by the ongoing commitment to the additional maintenance and resilience funding. The phased replacement of the older vessels in the major and small vessel fleets, along with the related standardisation of equipment, will reduce unplanned maintenance, and make overhaul and repair activities more efficient over the coming years.
