That the Parliament congratulates the Aberdeen Association of Civil Engineers on its 125th anniversary; notes that the association was formed on 14 December 1900 to enable local civil engineers to attend meetings and presentations, given the distance from the Institution of Civil Engineers in London; further notes that it became an associated society of the institution in 1987, following discussions from 1945, and was granted a letters patent and a coat of arms symbolising civil engineering elements by the Lord Lyon in May 2018; understands that the association provides knowledge dissemination, professional meetings, site visits and education for members; commends its anniversary celebrations, including a certificate from ICE Scotland, a civic reception hosted by the Lord Provost in June 2025 and the unveiling of a display cabinet at the University of Aberdeen in September 2025, and wishes the association continued success.

That the Parliament congratulates the Howff Secret Supper Club in Dundee on being named Scotland’s Restaurant of the Year at the 11th annual Food Awards Scotland; notes that the fine dining establishment sits in the heart of Dundee city centre; understands that the dining room sits below its cooking academy, providing a unique and relaxed experience that cannot be seen from street level; acknowledges that, in the previous year, the restaurant won two awards at the 10th annual Food Awards Scotland, and wishes the Howff Secret Supper Club continued success for the future.

That the Parliament commends Tom Herbert on the work he has undertaken to deliver weekly physiotherapy outreach sessions at the Old Torry Community Centre; notes that these sessions are student-led, and are only made possible with the contributions from the participating physiotherapy students from Robert Gordon University; understands that between 40 and 50 residents benefit each week from having access to exercise and health advice as well as an opportunity to socialise with other community members; acknowledges that the clinic also supports Robert Gordon University’s commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal Three, good health and wellbeing; appreciates that the clinic has helped to improve both mental and physical health of Torry residents and allowed students to develop expertise and experience in the field, and wishes the clinic, and all those involved, continued success.

That the Parliament congratulates Silva Spoons Café in Dundee on being named Scotland’s Café/Bistro of the Year at the 11th annual Food Awards Scotland; notes that the establishment is located in the Innovation Hub at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc; understands that the café has only been trading for three years; commends the team for their effort in demonstrating a high standard of culinary excellence, and wishes Silva Spoons Café every success for the future.

That the Parliament congratulates the Dundee Cooking Academy on being named Scotland’s Cookery School of the Year at the 11th annual Food Awards Scotland; understands that the academy, which is located in the city centre, is the first cooking academy in Dundee; notes that this is the second time that the academy has won this prestigious award, following up on its win in 2023; understands that the academy offers cooking classes to the public for a wide variety of dishes and cuisines, as well as for private events and group bookings, and hopes that the Dundee Cooking Academy will go from strength to strength following this latest success.

That the Parliament celebrates Eday’s newly refurbished war memorial being awarded the title, Best in Scotland, by the Royal British Legion; understands that Moira Byers, who headed the project, travelled to Edinburgh to pick up the award at the Lady Haig Poppy Factory on 5 September 2025; acknowledges that the refurbishment of the memorial was a joint effort, with John G Corse Funeral Directors being responsible for redoing the gold lettering and gilding, while Aaron Garson, a resident of Eday, painted and cleaned the sandstone steps; congratulates Moira on all her work to win this award, and thanks her for restoring the memorial, which is a fitting tribute to those killed in the First and Second World Wars.

That the Parliament congratulates the Scottish Men’s Shed Association on being shortlisted in the Community Led Regeneration category of the 2025 SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration; notes that the association is the national charity supporting Scotland’s network of community-led Men’s Sheds, which transform underutilised buildings into hubs where men can share skills, build friendships and contribute locally; recognises the vital role of local groups in delivering these benefits to Aberdeenshire communities and beyond, and wishes all involved continued success in promoting regeneration across Scotland.

That the Parliament recognises the achievements of the charity Ben Bradford BB14; understands that the charity was started by Mike Bradford in the name of his son, Ben, after he died in his sleep aged 16, with no explanation as to why and with his death classed as a sudden unexplained death in childhood (SUDC); notes that Ben’s passion for football has defined the goals of the charity to advance wider participation of youth in sport activities, regardless of an individual's background or ability, through access to facilities and equipment, and to improve the mental health and wellbeing of local youth; further notes that the charity’s current project to improve the pitch where Ben played since he was five years for his club, Cove Youth United, is well underway, and wishes BB14 every success in supporting the youth of the Cove community.

That the Parliament congratulates the three businesses in the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency that triumphed in the Scottish Home Improvement Awards 2025; recognises the success of Clyde Garage Doors Ltd, of Kirkintilloch, which won the Best Door Company and was highly recommended in the Outstanding Customer Service category; further recognises MCK Windows & Doors, which was named Scotland’s Best Window Replacement Company and was highly recommended in the Best Door Company category; recognises Spil Electrical, of Bishopbriggs, which was highly recommended in the Scotland’s Best Electrical Contractor category; understands that the awards are held annually to celebrate and recognise the excellence of businesses within the home improvement and trades sector in Scotland, and recognises the awards' importance in providing a platform for companies to showcase their skills and technical expertise, boost their public visibility and strengthen their reputations among clients and peers.

That the Parliament commends Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) for hosting a vital cardiac screening event at the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries on 11-12 September 2025; notes that a total of 188 young people were screened over the weekend event, contributing to an overall 761 screenings since May 2024, all delivered through the David Hill Memorial Fund; further notes that 54 individuals have been referred for a follow-up with either a GP or cardiology services, highlighting the importance of early detection; recognises CRY’s ongoing commitment to preventing sudden cardiac deaths in young people through awareness and accessible screening; acknowledges the significance of bringing such lifesaving opportunities to communities across Scotland; thanks the volunteers, medical professionals and organisers for their dedication and impact; encourages continued support for CRY’s mission to promote heart health and protect young lives, and wishes everyone involved every success in the upcoming Red Bow Ball fundraising event at the Cairndale Hotel in December.
