That the Parliament congratulates the 1st Crichton Brownies on celebrating its 100th anniversary, marking a century of dedicated service to girls aged seven to 10; understands that the group is the oldest Brownie pack in Midlothian; recognises that the unit was first registered with Girlguiding headquarters on 17 June 1925 under the leadership of Miss Kate Alexander, who served as the first brown owl until 1971; acknowledges the contributions of subsequent leaders, and in particular Mrs Liz Jones, who has served as brown owl since 1975, and Anne Pow, who has been tawny owl since 1978; commends the many former Brownies who have returned to support the unit through the Duke of Edinburgh Awards; notes the various meeting venues over the years and the importance of places such as Vogrie Brownie House in enabling residential adventures and memorable experiences; notes the unit’s centenary celebration, which brought together current and former Brownies and leaders and was marked by a message of congratulations from His Majesty King Charles III via the Lord Lieutenant of Midlothian, Sarah Barron; recognises the vital role Girlguiding plays in the development, confidence and empowerment of girls and young women across Scotland, and encourages those who can to consider volunteering with Girlguiding Scotland to support the next generation.
