That the Parliament commends what it sees as the courage and solidarity of Tracy Ann Miller, secretary, and Carolyn Casey, treasurer, of the UNISON Lothian Health and Social Care Branch, William Shearer, chair of the UNISON North Lanarkshire Branch and Stephen Smellie, secretary of the UNISON South Lanarkshire Branch, who led the first Scottish trade union delegation to visit Kharkiv, in Ukraine, since the illegal full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022; understands that Kharkiv, which is located just 30 miles from the Russian border, continues to suffer daily drone and missile attacks targeting civilians, hospitals, schools and vital infrastructure; applauds the delegation’s commitment to delivering financial aid and solidarity on behalf of UNISON members to support public service trade unionists operating under war-time conditions; notes the delegation’s dedicated fundraising efforts to support humanitarian and trade union activity in Ukraine; encourages all trade unionists, parliamentarians and members of the public to support what it sees as this vital mission and to stand in solidarity with workers in Ukraine, and affirms its ongoing support for peace, justice and international solidarity in the face of aggression.
