  • Submitted by: Paul McLennan, East Lothian, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 24 September 2025
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-19040

That the Parliament congratulates Openreach on reports that it has reached the milestone of 20 million premises passed with full fibre broadband across the UK; recognises what it sees as the significant contribution that this makes to Scotland’s digital infrastructure, particularly in improving connectivity across rural and island communities; acknowledges the role of Openreach’s build programmes, including R100 and Project Gigabit, in supporting economic growth, education and public services; believes that, over the last nine months, this has reached a further 250,000 premises in Scotland, and now reaches 1.67 million homes and businesses, increasing its total investment in the country to over £500 million; welcomes the company’s continued engagement with the Scottish Government and local authorities to ensure inclusive access to high-speed broadband, and wishes Openreach continued success in its efforts to connect the hardest-to-reach parts of Scotland.
