That the Parliament welcomes the news that Aberdeen has retained its Purple Flag status for an unprecedented 12th year in a row; notes that Purple Flag is an international accreditation programme that aims to reward destinations that create safe and thriving locations for all users after dark, between 5.00 pm and 5.00 am, and is awarded by the Association of Town and County Management; understands that key points in Aberdeen’s submission for showcasing what it sees as the city’s collaborative and innovative approach included its street pastors, who are volunteers supporting night-time safety, partnership working, continued funding for Taxi Marshalls, the co-location of partner agencies in Aberdeen City Council’s home in Marischal College and the creative reuse of buildings such as the Thistle Tavern gaming hub; congratulates Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen Inspired, Police Scotland and other local organisations and businesses that work together to make Aberdeen the only city in Scotland with this status, and thanks all those who help keep people safe as they enjoy the night-time economy.
