That the Parliament congratulates David Finlay on being awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) at a graduation ceremony at Bute Hall in Glasgow; notes that this was in recognition of what it sees as his pioneering work establishing a sustainable dairy system in which calves stay with their mothers, which promotes better animal welfare and healthier environments; further notes his significant contribution towards this work, along with his late wife, Wilma, as co-founder of The Ethical Dairy; acknowledges what it sees as his pioneering sustainable practices and integration of renewable energy technologies that have earned him multiple accolades, including being named the BBC Farmer of the Year in 2006 and the 2025 Holyrood Net Zero Award, and wishes David continued success as he contributes to SRUC’s research, education and knowledge exchange efforts, playing what it sees as a vital role in advancing the college’s strategic vision while strengthening its collaboration work in the years ahead.
