That the Parliament applauds Paul Malloy from Greenock on the delivery of Inverclyde’s first STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Festival on 8 June 2024; understands that Paul took inspiration from the success of other science festivals in Scotland and wanted to initiate a similar event in his local community; notes that in the lead up to the main festival, Paul organised a number of school campus events to engage directly with young people; recognises that Paul’s target was for 500 people to engage with the festival, held at the Watt Institution in Greenock, and that over 1,100 are thought to have attended; appreciates that this success has led to the Watt Institution inviting Paul to host the festival there once again next year; thanks Paul for his dedication to this initiative, which aims to encourage more young people and families to engage with science, as well as providing a boost to the economy, and wishes him all the best as he prepares to plan for Inverclyde STEM Festival 2025.
