To ask the Scottish Government what support it is providing to Aberdeen City Council to ensure the effective enforcement of laws regulating e-bikes.
Answer
The Scottish Government fully supports local authorities and their partners in dealing with the misuse of such vehicles.
There is no record of Aberdeen City Council having requested support from the Scottish Government to enforce the laws regulating e-bikes.
Support for any local authority trading standards service to enforce product safety regulations is a matter for the Office for Product Safety and Standards.

To ask the Scottish Government how many prosecutions have been brought under the Road Traffic Act 1988 in relation to illegal e-bikes in each year since 2020.
Answer
It is not possible to separately identify prosecutions under the Road Traffic Act 1988 that specifically relate to the illegal use of e-bikes. While the Act does not explicitly mention e-bikes, their illegal use may be prosecuted under a variety of offences. However, the Criminal Proceedings dataset does not hold this level of detail.

To ask the Scottish Government how many retailers or importers in Scotland have been found to be selling e-bikes that are not compliant with UK regulations, in each of the last five years.
Answer
This information is not held by the Scottish Government. When local authority trading standards services find products that are non-compliant with the relevant product safety legislation this should be input into the Product Safety Database. This is operated by the UK Government’s Office of Product Safety and Standards.

To ask the Scottish Government what safety measures are in place to ensure the continued operation of older diesel trains, including High Speed Trains (HSTs).
Answer
The ScotRail HSTs fleet is safe, and will continue to remain safe; this has been validated by an independent review of the HSTs’ design and construction, and endorsed by the industry safety regulator, the Office of Rail and Road.
Operational safety is a matter for ScotRail Trains and Network Rail, who are jointly responsible for the management of safety risks on Scotland’s Railway.
