Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee

The Committee was established in June 2026. It focuses on:

  • the Scottish Government’s EU and external affairs policy
  • policy relating to the UK’s relationship with the EU
  • the Scottish Government’s international activities, including international development
  • other areas of Scottish Government responsibility relating to devolution, intra-UK and intergovernmental relations
  • culture and the creative industries.

Work of the Committee: Committee Remit

To consider and report on the following —

  1. proposals for European Union legislation;
  2. the implementation of European Communities and European Union legislation;
  3. any European Communities or European Union issue;
  4. the development and implementation of the Scottish Administration’s links with countries and territories outside Scotland, the European Union (and its institutions) and other international organisations; and
  5. co-ordination of the international activities of the Scottish Administration.
